CASEY ARCHER Ms. Archer is a Certified Family Law Legal Specialist, and practices law in Merced and Mariposa counties in the areas of family law, guardianships and adoptions. The State Bar of California program for certifying legal specialists is a method approved by the California Supreme Court. Certification is attained through a lengthy process which includes taking a second Bar Examination that tests comprehension of complex family law matters, passing an exhaustive review of courtroom trial experience and professional ethics, completion of specific tasks in the specialty area, attendance at a prescribed number of approved education programs, and evaluations by attorneys and Judges. She has specialized training in representing children, and is appointed by the Superior Court to represent children in custody matters. She was Minor’s Counsel in the landmark case In re Eric H. (1997) 54 Cal.App.4th 955. Ms. Archer is the author of “Standards and Best Practices in Family Law”, which is approved by the State Bar of California for 1 hour MCLE credit. She is frequently appointed to serve as Judge Pro Tem in Merced County, and has served many years in that capacity in Mariposa County as well. Ms. Archer has served as President of the Family Law Section of the Merced County Bar Association since 2018. She is the Past-President of the Mariposa County Bar Association, a position she held for five years, and is the 2018 Past-President of the Merced County Bar Association. She served on the Board of Trustees for both the Merced and Mariposa County Law Libraries for several years, and is a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the State Bar of California, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Merced, and Merced Elks Lodge #1240. After raising her children in Merced and seeing them off to college, Ms. Archer now resides in Mariposa County where she serves on the Catheys Valley Planning Advisory Committee. |
